Commercial kitchen equipment manufacturers operate in a small and very competitive market – a true niche where quality and design are major differentiating factors. This type of equipment requires handles that are simple, elegant, quick, and easy to use and clean, for doors and other opening panels.
Modern equipment styling in stainless steel and glass calls for compatible hardware to match, and incorporating top-quality production values that ensure long service life. They are usually required to withstand multiple daily cleaning cycles, often using aggressive chemicals and equipment e.g. brushes, hoses, cloths.
The Elesa EBP series bridge handles in reinforced technopolymer fits the need for a small bridge style handle and is also available in a sanitised version (SAN) with silver ion inclusion. For lifting of bench top equipment or handling of large removable panels the series EPR offer a simple solution with multiple colour options.
Where style and colour are important then the larger ETH bridge handles in Technopolymer and aluminium provide an ergonomic solution. For heavier duty stainless steel equipment, the Elesa GN 333.6 are highly finished and highly functional to match modern clean designs of kitchen equipment for all levels of professional installations.
These Elesa handles offer excellent haptic properties that are easy to grab in a hurry and provide a positive “feel” so that the operator has confidence that the equipment will open and close comfortably, as expected, day after day.

The range includes: flat retaining magnets with steel containment body, galvanized or colour lacquered; with a sandwich configuration of the poles, in a brass or steel containment body. This configuration delivers maximum permanent power, even with the smallest workpieces.
Different construction materials (ferrite, aluminium nickel cobalt, samarium cobalt, neodymium iron boron) offer a choice of specific attraction strength, resistance to temperatures (e.g. up to 80°C and 200°C.) also resistance to corrosion, workability and the possibility of demagnetization.
Elesa flat magnets are generally fixed in place with glue or grub screws. Other types include cylindrical magnets, unshielded magnets, also horseshoe and profile magnets together with accessories such as setting bolts, grub screws and steel discs with or without adhesive tape. So, whatever the application, it looks like Elesa has a magnetic solution.

Two new designs are now offered by Elesa each with their own choices of configuration which includes an innovative clip-on external linear labyrinth as an additional anti-spill device and a dipstick for level checking.
The SFX is a new breather cap design with internal splash guard geometry which can also incorporate a "tech-foam" air filter in polyurethane foam mesh to protect the reservoir from external particles.
The additional anti-splash device consists of a snap-on set of semi-discs that fits at the mouth of the cap, and are made up of fins offset from each other designed to create an extra labyrinth to protect in the most critical cases of strong fluid agitation.
SFX+a also features the new splash guard options with anti-splash clip-on labyrinth now with the option of a flat dipstick in phosphatised steel. On request and for sufficient quantities dipsticks can be supplied in different lengths and/or complete with MAX-MIN level line.
Other special options include – a neutral cap without symbols and a cap in RAL 3000 red colour - also the threaded fixing is available with American conical gas threading NPT - ANSI-ASME B1-20.

The worldwide growth of photovoltaic (PV) systems is opening up new areas of application with complex environmental conditions. About 35% of the continents surface area is by definition desert: generally unpopulated and economically unviable, these areas offer efficient application possibilities, for example for the installation of solar PV plants in the hot, arid deserts of South America, Africa, southern Europe or the Middle East.
Similarly, high-altitude areas are also suitable for solar power generation. Due to the high altitude, PV plants there produce about 50% more energy than in the lowlands. The very high solar radiation and rarely cloudy skies create the ideal conditions for high electricity yields. The high mountain regions in Europe are suitable for this type of installation, but also the Andes mountain range in South America, where more and more PV power plants are being built at altitudes of over 2,000 m.
Safety standards at high temperatures
As a result of this market development, the Technical Committee TC82 of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) will further differentiate the requirements for installations in different ambient temperature ranges and draft the new edition of the safety standard for PV modules, IEC 61730-1, for applications at an operating temperature of up to 70 °C (98th percentile ). For applications at higher ambient temperatures, such as installations in desert regions, the requirements of IEC TS 63126 will apply.
IEC TS 63126 describes not only the thermal requirements for PV modules, but also for added components such as PV junction boxes or PV connectors, for two temperature levels. The following two categories apply to modules:
Temperature level 1: greater than or equal to 80 °C (T98e)
Temperature level 2: greater than or equal to 90 °C (T98e).
In this technical specification, paragraph 6.3 describes the requirements for PV connectors according to IEC 62852 for use at the above temperature level. According to this document, the upper limit temperatures (ULT) of the connectors must have a minimum value :
ULT for connectors to be installed
ULT for connectors to be installed in level 1 PV modules: at least 95 °C
ULT for connectors to be installed
ULT for connectors to be installed in Tier 2 PV modules: at least 105 °C
Safety requirements at high altitude
The requirements for insulation co-ordination in electrical product safety standards are usually defined for operating altitudes up to 2000 m [TA1] . For applications at higher altitudes, the requirements must be corrected for insulation distances, since at these altitudes the lower atmospheric pressure reduces the resistance of electrical installations against insulation distance breakdown. Therefore, the minimum insulation distance must be multiplied by a correction factor given in Table A.2 of IEC 60664-1:2020 or checked with a higher surge voltage.
